Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are some of the common questions that we get asked. If you can't find the answer to any question you may have, please do not hesitate to Contact Us

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry $1,000,000 of general liability insurance, including airborne activities.

How high do you fly?

We can fly up to and beyond 600 feet but most of our photography is done from ground level to 200 feet. We often don't need to fly very high for most properties, as 150 feet is often enough to create a great eye catching photo.

What photographic equipment do you use?

We use Nikon and Canon digial SLR 10 and 12 megapixal cameras with multiple lenses. For interior lighting, we use a Lowel-Tota lighting system.

What type of helicopter do you use?

We exclusively use large electric helicopters. There are many advantages of an electric powered large helicopter over gas powered helicopters, these include;
Low noise, electric helicopters are much quieter, so noise is not an issue at the location.
No smoke or emissions, this enables us to get clear and clean photos. It also has the advantage of being easier on the environment.
Low vibrations, this enables us to get the best quality photos of your property.
The large size enables us to carry the heavier SLR cameras with heavy lens.

How long can you fly for?

We can fly for 10-15 minutes per battery pack depending on the conditions. We have several battery packs.

Why use a RC helicopter instead of a full sized aircraft?

The number one reason is cost, we are a fraction of the cost of a full sized helicopter and photographer also, our RC helicopter can operate in areas that wouldn't physically accommodate a full size helicopter.
Most of the photos we take would be unavailable to a full sized aircraft due to full sized aircraft being restricted by the FAA to fly no lower that 1000' over congested areas and 500' in non-congested areas.

Does bad weather restrict flying?

Yes, we do not fly when winds are above 20 mph or when it is raining.

How do you ensure safety while flying?

We ask that all pets be put inside while we are flying. The blades can do damage to animals even while the helicopter is on the ground starting up. Please make sure all pets are secure.
We also ask that all people viewing the flight stand behind the pilot and that all children be in the care of an adult. The helicopter can be very appealing to a child so maintaining control of young children is very important.
We also avoid flying over people at all time and we assign a place to emergency land if we experience a problem with the helicam.

What terms do you offer?

Our photography is generally done on COD or 50/50 terms. The exception is if you or your office has ordered 10 photo sessions from us, we then offer you or the office Net30 terms.
